BIOHOME® ULTRA, ULTRA PLUS, and ULTIMATE, ULTIMATE MARINE are made with higher porosity (10% more) to support more oxygen exchange within the pellet, supporting better biological functions. These are generally larger pellets than BIOHOME® Standard & Plus. PLUS & ULTIMATE MARINE include trace elements to induce faster bacterial colonisation.
How to use BIOHOME
With the massive surface area, you can say goodbye to huge and chunky biomats, bioballs, etc. Treating 3 tons of freshwater with 1 kg of BIOHOME, all you need is a very small compartment for biological filtration! (1 kg = 1.25 L)
Use in aquarium filter
Let Biohome be part of your filtration system!
“I have come across people who use their Biohome for years without any problem.
There is no surge of ammonia and nitrite. The best of all, the nitrate can be maintained at
low level. This is most likely due to the small and narrow tunnel inside the sintered glass
that is ideal to house the nitrate consuming bacteria.”

BIOMOTION™ by Biohome Fast Light, Built for Moving Beds
A next-gen sintered-glass media engineered to seed beneficial bacteria quickly and keep them thriving, purpose-nuilt for moving bed filters and far more efficient than plastics.
Why it’s different?
Rapid Colonisation: Typically ~21-42 days vs. plastics taking ~6-20 weeks.
Huge surface area: ~10-50x more than plastic media, and it increases over time as the outer layer wears to reveal fresh internal structure.
Ultra-light, moving-bed ready:specifically designed to stay in motion for optimal bio-filtration.
Where it fits
Canister, overhead, internal multi-chamber, trickle tower, and moving bed filters. DIY friendly: an air pump can drive a small conical “bottle” reactor at home. In larger sumps, use a stronger air pump or small powerhead. For static use, pair with mechanical media (e.g., filter wool) to prevent clogging.
No cleaning needed in moving beds. For longevity, leave no more than ~20% free space in the chamber. As a guide, ~100 g treats ~120 L of water; 1 kg is ~2.1 L of media.
(Biohome sintered-glass media is built to last; lifespan can be extended by topping up new media over the years.)
