What
is CLEANSE?
Cleanse
is a stabilized form of chlorine dioxide with a germicidal effect higher
than most other disinfectants, but yet safe for application onto external
wounds and for disinfections of animal environments, food equipment,
poultry processing water. Recently it has been the disinfectant of choice
in many US states for potable water due to its relatively non-toxic
properties.
|
|
- CLEANSE is NOT
chlorine. It differs
significantly from chlorine-based disinfectants in that no
carcinogenic biproducts (ie. brominated orgnics, trihalomethanes) are
generated from its contact with organic matter.
-
- It has been
demonstrated to have superior antimicrobial properties compared with
glutaraldehydes, phenolics, quaternary ammonium compounds and
iodophors.
-
- It
is unique by virtue of its wide range of antimicrobial activity, with
proven virucidal, bacteriocidal, fungicidal and sporocidal properties.
(Its value as an antimicrobial agent has been recognised by the FDA
and EPA, and its active ingredients have been approved for use on food
products and in drinking water to eliminate microbes and parasites
such as Cryptosporidium oocysts.)
|
- CLEANSE facilitates
wound healing through its potent antimicrobial properties and
relatively low level of cell toxicity.
It can be used for:
-
Domestic Animals
- ~
Direct spraying onto superficial wounds and cuts (undiluted).
- ~
Direct application onto oral ulcers and other gingival lesions
(apply with a cotton swab or gauze).
- ~
Flushing or spraying onto `weeping’ skin lesions.
- ~
Flushing of abscesses (diluted 5 times with saline)
- ~
Dipping or spraying onto infected nail beds, foot pads etc.
-
Animals’ Environments:
~
Spraying onto holding cages of eg. chinchillas, guinea pig, birds
to inactivate viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasitic cysts.Chelonians,
turtles and other reptiles*:
~
Maintaining water quality and water-borne infections in aquatic
reptile tanks (use 10-15ml for every 10L of water)
~
Direct application onto shell and skin lesions (use undiluted).
*Avoid
using in amphibians and Iguanas.
-
- Note:
Avoid direct contact with eyes and sensitive skin (eg scrotal
skin). In the event of
eye irritation, irrigate with copious amounts of cool water.
|
SUMMARY:
The active ingredient is active against viruses, bacteria, fungi, spores
and single-celled protozoa with a potency beyond most other antimicrobial
agents. It facilitates wound
healing quickly, which in turn reduces scar tissue formation. It can also be used as a general environmental disinfectant.
