ALLERGY RELIEF (ALLERGIES IN YOUR PETS)

A significant number of pets, especially dogs, are now exhibiting allergy symptoms. The constant scratching, biting at their bodies, terrible skin problem and poor coats, licking their paws, rubbing their faces on the furniture, excessive salivation and breathing problems, are very distressing to both the animal and owner. Unfortunately, not many things seem to help them…..

Until holistic care is considered, it seems to be an endless battle of symptom suppression while searching for the next medication or change in diet to work. Usually with each passing season, the animal seems to get worse, the medications less effective and the diets a waste of money…..

This is not an uncommon cycle seen when the body is not taken care of as nature intended. As the immune system struggles, it simply gets weaker and more burdened as time passes, until the whole body breaks down. It is also not uncommon to see the more serious diseases, such as cancer, in older animals with a history of “allergies”.

Once you understand how the immune system works, it becomes very clear why “allergies” are blamed for so many symptoms that are actually a reaction to a depressed immune system. What is so frustrating is that allopathically this is not recognized, and things are lumped under a “diagnosis” so that symptoms can then be treated, rather than addressing the whole body.

While the immune system is suffering, the kidneys and liver are involved. As these vital organs become burdened, through ingestion of by-products, rancid animal fats, and chemicals (common pet food ingredients), structural or negative emotional imbalances (prohibiting proper digestion), waste products continue to back up in the body. The skin, which is the largest eliminatory organ, then takes on the challenge of releasing these wastes. This results in skin irritations. The symptoms most often noticed are small red pimples, rashes and “hot spots”, which leads to the scratching and biting of the body, paws and face rubbing. Numbness from structural problems may also lead to these symptoms and are often mistaken for “allergies” as well. Steroids, commonly used to reduce inflammation of the nerves involved and this temporarily reduce the so called “symptom”, leading to the false assumption that allergies were the culprit….until symptoms return worse that every in the future, even sometimes leading to paralysis due to the fact that the structural problem was never properly addressed!

The eyes and ears are also representative of what is going on inside the body. As the body is overwhelmed, the eyes redden, the ears produce excessive wax and irritation, and the owner is often perplexed at the fact that there are no more allergens present, such as grass in their yard at that time of the year…..yet their pet is still scratching and the vet is still claiming ‘allergies’! They must then start to see that allergies are not at the root of the problem.

The same is true for ‘food allergies’, causing a frequent change in diet, sometimes helping then not, until the animal refuses to try any new diets. We have often seen hundreds of dogs and cats who had tested positive on skin tests for specific sensitivities such as to meat or wheat, only to be eating a quality natural diet based on these ingredients soon after a sound cleansing and strengthening program was followed to build back up the digestive tract and immune system.

Simply changing the diet, even to a quality natural brand, is often not sufficient. Proper supplementation and herbal or homeopathic remedies must be followed to assure that the underlying imbalance is then corrected, whether it is to cleanse the colon or body of toxins, stimulate the digestive process or balance the vital hormones, supplementation is important.

Maintaining hormonal balance and blood sugar is also very important in maintaining the immune system and keeping the body strong, and resistance high against “allergens”. Feed your animal at least twice per day, more often to keep blood sugar stable when stress or allergens are present and symptoms are showing. This will do much to keep symptoms at bay.

In conclusion, the best defence for an animal who is exhibiting allergic reactions is a strong offence. The first step is to get a proper diagnosis from your vet to ensure that you are not dealing with a serious illness. Whatever the problem, serious or minor, there are many natural protocols you can successfully follow. There are many things you can do. Above all, do not give up too soon, remember the longer the body has been compromised, the longer it may take to rebalance but its possible!
